About the Author

Author Background

Growing up in the hood didn't offer many material resources or opportunities. However, I was culturally rich because God blessed me with two valuable parents and a loving family. They took me to Grace Baptist Church at an early age. God also provided me with an extended family that emphasized the importance of education and service to the community, along with a plethora of mentors who poured core values into me.

Attending South Carolina State University, an HBCU, with its talented teachers and erudite students, prepared me for whatever obstacles I would face in life.

From Bishop Street in the heart of Waterbury, Connecticut, to the judicial bench, Maurice B. Mosley's journey is one of perseverance, faith, and dedication to uplifting his community. His story serves as an inspiration to anyone who has ever been told that success is beyond their reach.

As founder of Granville Academy of Waterbury, Maurice B. Mosley has dedicated his life to justice, education, and empowering the next generation to believe that success truly runs in our race.
